Instead of measuring antibodies, this test looks for the organisms' DNA directly. Digital PCR splits the sample into about 26,000 tiny droplets and tests each one, which can be up to 10 times more sensitive than standard PCR. For Bartonella, part of the sample is first cultured to raise bacterial levels before testing. You may also see it called "tick-borne PCR test", "Babesia test", or "Lyme PCR test".

What the Tick-Borne Infection DNA Test measures

Direct DNA Detection

  • Babesia speciesA red-blood-cell parasite often found alongside Lyme.
  • Bartonella speciesIncluding a culture-enhanced Bartonella test.
  • Borrelia (Lyme) speciesThe bacteria behind Lyme disease.

Versions available

1-day

One blood draw.

3-day

Three blood draws every other day within 5–8 days; Bartonella cycles in and out of the blood, so serial draws may improve detection.

The right version is chosen with you based on your symptoms and history.
