Infection Testing
Lyme Urine Antigen Test
Also known as: Urinary Borrelia OspA antigen (direct detection)
Also searched as: Lyme urine test · Lyme antigen test
Looks for a Lyme bacteria protein directly in urine — rather than your antibody response.
Most Lyme tests look for antibodies — your immune system's response — which can take 4–6 weeks to appear and can stay positive long after an infection clears. This test looks for a protein from the Lyme bacteria itself (OspA) in urine, which may indicate current presence. You may also see it called "Lyme urine test" or "Lyme antigen test".
What the Lyme Urine Antigen Test measures
Lyme Bacteria (Borrelia)
